Seeking dynamic candidates for positions on the Board of Trustees

Help Make a Difference to Healthcare in Your Community

The complexity of healthcare is increasing and now more than ever, strong, strategic governance leadership is required. The Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (G&M) is seeking dynamic candidates for positions on the Board of Trustees. The Board is composed of volunteers from the four municipalities served by the Hospital - Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Clearview and The Blue Mountains.

Ultimate accountability for the services provided by the hospital is held by the Board of Trustees. Working in partnership with the senior management team of the hospital, the Board provides oversight of operations, foresight in terms of planning for the future and insight to ensure the right questions are being asked. New members are being sought to be a part of this Board for the term commencing June 2014 (following our Annual General Meeting on June 19, 2014).

Board members are expected to be responsible for making decisions in the best interest of the hospital corporation, as well as the broader health care system. Integration of services locally and regionally is a key direction the hospital is taking to better support the heath care needs of our community. Board members are expected to be active members of the team, have the ability to think strategically and communicate effectively.

The hospital is currently seeking candidates who, preferably although not necessarily, have had previous not-for-profit board experience, skills in the area of finance or governance. Interested individuals can submit a resumé by May 2, 2014 to

June 7 - International Trails Day

International Trails Day is a day dedicated to celebrate trails, their development, uses and the healthy lifestyle they encourage. For many years now North America has traditionally celebrated a trails day on the first Saturday in June7.

Take only pictures, leave only footprints: don't bring any plants, animals or other natural objects with you. Park regulations prohibit this. For more information on Leave No Trace practices, visit

The dunes area of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park offers 30 km of trails. As you enter the trail system you will be passing through an area known as the raised beaches. These are the remnants of a glacial lake that covered the Wasaga Beach area close to 10,000 years ago. As you continue along the trail you will see hills that are the beginning of the foredunes. These are the largest and least disturbed set of parabolic sand dunes in Ontario. Approximately 700 different types of plants and 230 species of birds can be seen in this fragile dune area. Recent improvements to hiking in the Wasaga Beach area include 17 kilometres of the Ganaraska Trail which travel through the dunes area.
