October 10 - Sharing the Vision

On our closest Friday to World Vision day,  October 10th ,from 5:30 to 10 pm at our bingo at the RecPlex,  the Wasaga Beach Lions Club will be encouraging everyone to bring their prescription eyeglasses, including sunglasses as part of the celebrations of World Sight Day 2014.

The Wasaga Beach Lions Club is inviting all community residents to “Sharing the Vision” and to look though there dresser drawers and closets for used eyeglasses and donate them to our Lion Recycle for Sight Program.

“80% of all vision impairment can be avoided or cured.” – World Health Organization

“Lions throughout the world share a common vision - to fight blindness and provide vision care for all. Many eye and vision problems have no obvious signs or symptoms, and as a result, individuals are often unaware that problems exist. Organizing this project gives us a chance to raise awareness of the importance of healthy vision and the causes of vision loss” said Lion Suzanne Lacombe, President – Wasaga Beach Lions Club. In addition to the club’s upcoming “Sharing the Vision” on Oct 10th, 2014, the club conduct a wide variety of projects including;

Vision screening of all Junior Kindergarden Students during the month of October.

  • Host the Good Food Box assembly on the 3rd Wednesday of each month
  • Environmental Campaigns in –Adopt a road with the town on Oct 18th
  • Lions Effective Speaking Competitions
  • Youth – Peace Poster competiton
  • Breakfast with Santa – November 30th.

Lions clubs are like minded of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs.
