Born in Orillia, Ontario and raised 7 miles west of the city. Trudie had a background working with large Insurance Companies. She has had the tremendous opportunity to live and work in three provinces across Canada. After returning from British Columbia she took up residency in Wasaga Beach and attended Georgian College of Applied Arts and Technology in Barrie where she obtained her diploma in Tourism Management. Trudie came to the Chamber of Commerce through a summer co-op placement and was hired full-time after her convocation in May 2000.
Tourism Management, a three-year business-oriented program, designed to provide management skills for the rapidly expanding and challenging tourism and hospitality industry. The program was a blend of contemporary business, technology and communication-oriented subjects and provided a carefully designed mix of management theory and practical applications with active involvement from the business community. Emphasis was placed on creating a team environment within the workplace and developing critical decision-making skills.
When Trudie moved to Wasaga Beach the population sign read 4,500 residents and today the population is posted at 16,000. She has seen many exciting changes in Wasaga Beach and enjoys working with the Business Community and Residents alike.
Linda Styles, Administrative Assistant
Linda was born in Clydebank, Scotland and moved to Canada as a child with her family in 1966. They first settled in Oshawa, Ontario and then in 1975 they moved to Brampton where she lived for 21 years. After high school Linda married and had a daughter who now lives in Cambridge, Ontario. Shortly after that Linda started working for Northern Telecom where she worked for 16 years. Linda and her husband moved to Wasaga Beach in 1996.
After taking a Computer and Business course through the Georgian College Campus in Collingwood, Linda was introduced to the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce through their work placement program. After the work placement was successfully completed Linda was hired on full-time/part-time and has been with the Chamber since 1998.
Linda enjoys meeting new people through her job at the Chamber of Commerce.
Anita Lawson, Administrative Assistant
Anita was born in Collingwood, Ontario and raised in Stayner. Attended Byng Public School and Stayner Collegiate Institute. Graduated in 2001.
Anita was introduced to the Wasaga Beach Chamber of Commerce through a work placement program through Tracks Employment and Resource Services of Georgian Bay Inc.
Anita has been employeed with the Wasaga beach Chamber of Commerce for 9 years.
Anita really enjoys interacting with the public and hearing their memories about Wasaga beach and area.
